About Mark Jordan

I create and deliver Foundation SAS programming training for SAS Institute, Inc, including CASL, DATA step, DS2, SQL, and Macro. When I retired from the Navy, I turned my hobby into a dream job! I\'ve been a SAS programmer since 1994, working in manufacturing and financial services before coming to SAS in 2003. I teach a broad spectrum of Foundation SAS programming classes and have authored and co-authored several SAS training courses. My book,\"Mastering the SAS DS2 Procedure: Advanced Data Wrangling Techniques\" is now in its second edition. When not teaching, I sporadically post \"Jedi SAS Tricks\" to the SAS Learning Post blog, and enjoy playing with my grandchildren and great-grandchildren, hanging out at the beach, and reading science fiction novels. My secret obsession is flying toys – kites, rockets, drones – though I try to convince my wife they are for the grandkids, she isn\'t buying it. I currently live in Williamsburg, VA with my wife, Lori, and our cat, Stella.    I write courses materials and teach classes for the SAS Foundation Programming curriculum at SAS Institute and have more than a decade of experience teaching a wide variety of technical subjects. My decades of work experience as an analyst, application developer and project manager working on a variety of business applications on MVS, Unix and Windows platforms using SAS, Oracle, Teradata, and MS-SQL Server, helps me to effectively mentor SAS users in applying the knowledge gained in the classroom to their real-world business problems.
