ABOUT SASHA PERUGINI
I began my path in international education as a student myself, completing my Ph.D. at Tufts University and experiencing first-hand the transformative impact of learning in a country different from the one I grew up in. Since then, I have worked in international higher education for over 30 years, of which about 20 in leadership roles. Since 2011, I have served as Director of Syracuse University Florence. In 2023, I was also appointed Director of Global Innovation for Syracuse University Abroad, where I design new models of learning and engagement across our global centers. Much of my work involves responding to institutional needs through the design and oversight of academic programs, staff development, and revenue-generating initiatives. This has included facility planning, executive education modules, and new models of alumni and partner engagement. I have led multi-stakeholder projects across cultural and administrative systems, always with attention to practical outcomes, long-term planning, and academic quality. Alongside my leadership roles, I continue to teach, write, and present on education, Artificial Intelligence, and cultural complexity.
