Oversees the daily operations of the therapeutic room to ensure effectiveness, efficiency and safety of cellular therapy and therapeutic apheresis procedures.Directly supervises RN’s in providing quality care to patients in a well-managed and organized setting.Hires new staff and assists Therapeutic specialist with orientation programs, performance evaluation and implementation of recommendations for therapeutic apheresis.Serves as leader for department on EMR implementation and use.Works with Director and quality department to perform ongoing evaluation and updating of standard operating procedures relevant to therapeutic apheresis.Provides educational materials and in-service education to encourage staff participation in special projects, and ensures staff is up to date with current procedures and protocols.Coordinates and communicates with the Compliance Section and other managers to ensure compliance with regulatory accrediting agencies and implementation of Quality Assurance program, i.e. FACT, JC, AABB, CDH, CAP, etc.Establishes and maintains department policies, procedures, and objectives.Establishes and modifies employee work schedules and arranges other scheduling resources to ensure adequate coverage.Works closely with Supervisor, Patient/Donor Information Systems and Therapeutic Room Assistants on patient scheduling to ensure coordination of patient and staff scheduling.Communicates with nursing staff for special procedures, protocols, and IRBs, and makes appropriate staff assignments.Ensures maintenance of departmental reports, records, and statistical data for administrative and regulatory purposes.Assists nurses in the therapeutic room in performing procedures when needed.Meets with company representatives concerning modification, maintenance, and service of blood cell separators.Assists Director in preparation of capital spending budgets for the therapeutic apheresis center.
