ABOUT SARANI RANGARAJAN MILLICAN

A detail-oriented, creative, versatile, and mindful communicator; I am passionate about improving our lives, data-driven decision-making, and appropriate and effective communication. I\'m always learning and trying to get better.LEADERSHIP I consistently and for years participated in organizations that focus on community-building and support for minority and diverse groups. In many cases, this involved working to execute projects in small groups. I\'ve managed and run events and symposia.I coordinated and accelerated the implementation of a new content management system one week into a new position at IPRT. As chairperson of the student newspaper at Iowa State University, I was responsible for the policies and financial decisions of the 1.5m/year business. I also have extensive mentoring, coaching, and teaching experience.CONTENT PRODUCTIONAt Convergent Science, I\'ve written documents on a spectrum of technical: from white papers, to blog posts, to internal newsletter articles, to social media descriptions. I\'ve documented software features and maintained living documents (Bibliography and Getting Started Guide). All my tasks required balancing the needs of various internal stakeholders.As a staff writer for a national newspaper with daily circulation of 1.3 million copies, I generated story ideas, wrote articles and edited stories. As an intern, it was my responsibility to write stories for organizational websites and personal and professional blogs.I have designed page layouts for document production, such as for regular online and hardcopy newsletters. I\'ve not only written and edited copy, but I can also produce graphics to illustrate statistics, and am proficient at documentary photography.CLIENT CONTACTI\'ve worked directly with clients to address their needs, whether it is editing scientific documents, coaching to writer better, or finding the space in the law for their tenant/landlord concerns.As a journalist, I told people\'s stories. This involved talking to them and really listening and balancing that against what stories readers wanted to know about.I maintained, managed and produced content for a number of social media accounts. I\'ve developed client-facing social media strategy, which when implemented, optimized the direction of social media efforts.
