ABOUT SARANG SHAH

Be passionate about at least one thing in life\"! Currently, I am a post-doctoral fellow in the India TMT ordination Centre at the Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bengaluru. I have developed the partial \"Infrared Guide Star Catalogue\" for TMT observations. I am also developing the coordinate systems for the India-TMT science instruments that India is developing. I am also associated with the team involved in calibration and developing India-TMT science instruments. I did B.E. Mechanical from Sandip Institute of Technology and Research Centre, affiliated with Pune University. Later I completed my M.Sc. Physics from Lovely Professional University and later pursued my PhD (Astronomy) from the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand. Since childhood, I have been interested in astronomy and have been involved in several astronomy-related activities like sky observation, public outreach, etc. I did my M.Sc. thesis in photometry, and since then, I have been learning it. I worked on Gravitational Microlensing of Exo-Planets in my doctoral thesis, and I worked with OGLE, KMTNet and Spitzer Microlensing survey groups. I also work for conserving the environment, and I believe in consuming minimal resources. I was associated with the Nature Conservation Society of Nashik. I was also associated with Vidnyan (Science) Prabodhini, a science-based organization that actively does different activities like summer camps, guest lectures, Sunday science school, regular science-based workshops, etc. I have always believed in sharing knowledge and worked actively towards it. I do bird photography, plane spotting, and making train videos in my spare time. I am against animal atrocities, and I believe in living in harmony with Nature. If you study Astronomy & Astrophysics, you understand that you share the planet with 80,00,700 species. Earth is a very small speck in the Universe, and thus it is our responsibility to take care of it.\"The earth has sufficient for everyone\'s need but not for everyone\'s greed\"- Mahatma Gandhi.
