1) Biofilm Project- Design and execute imaging workflows using fluorescent/confocal microscopy with Calcofluor White staining and formaldehyde fixation for structural analysis of Candida glabrata biofilms- Perform quantitative image analysis using ImageJ and Imaris to measure biofilm thickness and assess its structural organization- Troubleshoot instrumentation workflows, contributing to SOP development and documentation for microbiological assays.2) Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) Project- Designed and iteratively optimized a 3 mm channel microfluidic chip using SolidWorks/COMSOL and hydrogel bead testing to refine fluid flow, observe bead dynamics, and identify faults such as obstructions or irregularities- Optimized hydrogel synthesis protocols via precise flow rate and pressure control using micro-pressure pumps and crossflow systems, producing uniform hydrogels as RBC substitutes for initial trials of 3D-printed microfluidic chips- Developed SU-8 photolithography master for RBC deformability fractionation chips, optimizing spin coating and exposure steps, and verified microchannel dimensions (10-40 µm) in ImageJ with <2% deviation from design.
