ABOUT SARAH VARTANIAN

I am currently a consultant for area nonprofits who are seeking training, guidance, resources and assistance in overall organizational effectiveness, fundraising fundamentals and board roles and responsibilities. I enjoy my work both professionally and personally, as I often engage in speaking opportunities to promote and encourage youth involvement in philanthropy. My passion for nonprofits started after 9/11/2001, when I began the “Wee-Care Bear” initiative to benefit girls in Afghanistan. The money raised funded the building and support of two girls\' schools in Afghanistan through CARE, International. Funds have also been directed to The Armenian Relief Society and Science With a Mission, Inc. After seeing the incredible impact of fundraising, I knew that I would be involved in philanthropy for years to come. I went on to receive an award from, and intern for, the Association of Fundraising Professionals. In April 2012 I was invited back to speak at their international conference in Vancouver on the topic of Youth in Philanthropy. I was inducted as their inaugural member of their new membership category \"Young Professionals.\" At Stonehill College, I first began my work with the Center for Nonprofit Management (CNM) as an intern. I participated in their inaugural year of the Developing Fundraising Leaders Institute (DFLI), a program devoted to training future nonprofit leaders, and later became the CNM Director. Most recently, I served as the Regional Executive Director for the Jefferson Awards Foundation (now known as Multiplying Good), building the Eastern Massachusetts region and implementing all of the organization’s programs in the area. I was grateful to be able to continue my passion for working with and empowering youth, while providing them the tools to become true change makers in this world. I’m devoted to the nonprofit sector and actively seek opportunities to gain further knowledge and skills as I continue to pursue my professional career.
