About Sarah Slaughter
I’m a freshman at the University of South Carolina and a Carolina Top Scholar, studying Economics and Political Science on the pre-law track through the Honors College. I’m passionate about both STEM and public policy, and I hope to combine them in a future career focused on ethical, evidence-based leadership in law, government, or advocacy.In high school, I served as President of both the National Honor Society and the Debate Team. These roles taught me to lead with intention, think critically, and communicate effectively. I also enjoy learning new languages, which helps me better understand different cultures and perspectives. As I begin college, I look forward to continuing to build on these skills through new academic and service opportunities.I’m especially interested in the intersections of science, law, and public service, and I’m excited to explore how technical knowledge can support strong policy and meaningful change.
