About Sarah MacIntosh

I am an anthropologically trained archaeologist with over 15 years of experience in diverse settings – from academic research and museum work to cultural resource management (CRM) across North America and, currently, federal service with the US Army Corps of Engineers. My background provides me with a unique skillset for analyzing complex data (both qualitative and quantitative) and communicating technical information clearly to a variety of stakeholders. I have also participated in extensive archaeological fieldwork internationally, with projects in Morocco, Jordan, and Turkey during both my undergraduate and graduate studies.As a Project Manager for the Federal Columbia River Power Systems Cultural Resources Program, I collaborate closely with Tribal staff, agencies, and other stakeholders to preserve historic properties, particularly those of religious and cultural significance to Indian Tribes. I champion co-stewardship approaches, recognizing the invaluable contributions of ethnographic research, oral histories, and traditional ecological knowledge to land management decisions. I believe that incorporating Tribal perspectives is essential for responsible civil works projects.I am actively involved in policy development, focusing on historic property management plans, Memorandum of Agreements, Programmatic Agreements, curation guidelines, and compliance documentation. I also contribute to NEPA and EIS processes. My experience in diverse cultural contexts, both domestically and abroad, informs my approach to collaborative resource management and sensitivity to diverse perspectives.Beyond my professional work, I continue to pursue my research on Anatolian archaeology, presenting findings at the Society for American Archaeology. I have also been invited to give guest lectures at local universities.
