About Sarah Pickel

I design and develop meaningful learning experiences. For years I thought in order to do that I had to work in education. As someone who loves to form deep connections and help people figure out their path in life, I found myself as an academic career coach in higher education. The work was rewarding. I saw young adults find their passions and pursue careers they loved. However, one project (to advise a large group of freshman students using a flipped classroom model) combined my passion for coaching others together with eLearning, and introduced me to the world of Instructional Design. Through instructional design I can foster my technology-loving, creative side while also encouraging growth and development opportunities. I love that I can flex back and forth from being process-orientated, organized, and logistical to getting to create something beautiful (but functional!). As a thoughtful communicator with a desire to connect with people and a critical eye for identifying areas of improvement, I enjoy consulting with customers on identifying how training can support employee success and designing effective learning solutions based on how our brains learn best. My ability to see each project and learner as unique, stems from my many years in education and my strengths based approach to learning. I will nerd out over personality assessments and what to know what makes you tick as a person. Some of my favorite assessments are MBTI (I am an INFJ) and StrengthsFinder (my top 5 are Futuristic, Relator, Individualization, Discipline, Responsibility).This extroverted-introvert loves meeting new people, hearing their stories of how they ended up where they are now, and what theirs dreams are for the future - as long I can retreat back to the quiet of my home afterwards. Glad to connect with other who are passionate about Learning and Development and want to discuss personality assessments in depth!
