ABOUT SARAH PATTEN

I am a passionate and professional individual and am extremely priviledged to hold the position of Health & Wellbeing Programme Lead with NHS Employers. My previous roles have included Programme Lead in the Armed Forces Reserves programme with NHS Employers, Project Officer for the Cancer Champion Programme within Humber, Coast & Vale Cancer Alliance and as a Patient Experience Project Manager specialising in Volunteer Management, for an NHS Trust.I have worked within a healthcare setting for 13 years, starting my career in Human Resources and throughout this time I have achieved a huge amount of personal satisfaction from working alongside some of the most committed and disciplined workforce in the public sector. My role as a Project Officer in the Cancer Champion programme included delivering vital information to individuals, private and public organisations, community, volunteer and charitable groups, on the signs and symptoms of cancer. Additionally, the vision for the future is to develop a large network of Cancer Champion Volunteers, based within a variety of organisations to enable the messages of ‘early detection, saves lives’ to be delivered locally. As a Patient Experience Project Manager I was responsible for the management of the Volunteer Service at York Hospital and played a key role in the Trust\'s Patient Experience Strategy, with the support and development of existing volunteer roles. Added to this is I was responsible for working alongside nurse leaders and directorate managers to develop bespoke volunteer roles, both in our hospitals and in the community. A hugely rewarding part of the role was facilitating focus groups and working with staff, volunteers and students both in the hospital and the community. It was extremely rewarding being involved with such inspiring characters, supporting the Volunteer Service, offering their time and skills to enhance the patients experience - an absolute privilege. I consider myself highly self motivated and have extensive experience of working collaboratively with internal stakeholders and with multi disciplinary teams. I have managed large and small teams throughout my career, demonstrating excellent leadership and team building skills. I am a confident communicator and am skilled in strategic planning, to ensure the successfull delivery of performance objectives and targets.
