About Sarah Richardson
I am an organizational development and higher education professional passionate about creating thriving, growth-centered workplaces through strategic professional development, employee engagement, and talent initiatives. As Director of Professional Development and Engagement at the UNC-Chapel Hill University Development Office, I lead a range of initiatives that strengthen our workplace culture and support employee success: in-house learning opportunities for managers, fundraisers, and advancement services staff; Gallup Q12 employee engagement survey and action planning; student internship programming; and other strategic talent management projects. My background includes instructional design, project management, qualitative user research, and operations management, with a strong foundation built through my prior roles supporting pan-university initiatives in the Offices of the Provost and Chancellor at UNC-Chapel Hill. I earned a Master’s in Library and Information Science from UNC Greensboro, where my research focused on creating and assessing inclusive spaces and resources for neurodivergent users. Designing professional development experiences that are practical, inclusive, and meaningful is how I empower advancement professionals at every stage of their career to learn, lead, and thrive.

Led 20+ Gallup Q12 Employee Engagement Survey action planning sessions to deliver and discuss team-level results and partnered one-on-one with senior leadership to support strategic organizational change- Developed and executed a 10-week professional development program for the OneCarolina Student Internship Program with soft skills workshops, networking events, guest speakers, and site visits- Created a comprehensive six-month leadership development program for managers to address UDO-specific knowledge gaps and integrate SOCIAL STYLE training; pilot will launch Fall 2025 with a cohort of 15 participants.
