ABOUT SARAH G. CANDLER
Sarah G. Candler, MD, MPH, is an Internal Medicine Physician, who specializes in primary care for high-risk older adults. She has dedicated both her practice and her policy work to improving access to high quality, equitable, affordable primary care. Her professional goal is to recenter the American healthcare system on the patient-physician relationship through payment reforms, public transparency, and team-based care. Dr. Candler taught in Baylor College of Medicine’s Veterans Affairs’ team-based Center of Excellence in Primary Care and then served as Medical Director at the value-based care company, Iora with One Medical (now One Medical Seniors). She has contributed to policy growth through committees and task forces at both the local and national levels through the American College of Physicians, Texas Medical Association, the American Medical Association. She was a founding co-editor of Annals of Internal Medicine’s “Fresh Look” blog.After finishing her dual MD, MPH program at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Candler completed Internal Medicine residency in Tulane University’s Primary Care Track in New Orleans, Louisiana. She recently relocated from Houston, Texas to Washington, D.C. with her husband and two children. In her free time, she enjoys hiking and playing bluegrass and jazz music with family and friends.
