My career journey started in accounting - logical, stable and structured. I earned degrees in accounting, economics, and a minor in marketing, with big plans to grind through tax season.I landed my first job at Bluewolf, an IBM Company, where I got my first taste of corporate life. But accounting was too scripted for me - I wanted more creativity. So after two years, I left, moved to LA and spent time with my newborn.In LA, I joined the CEO at StyleRow as the first employee—before the product even existed. She liked that I had social media experience (I once thought I was an interior design influencer). I quickly realized interior design wasn’t my path, but scaling startups? Heck, yeah.At SR, I became the GSD (Get Stuff Done) Queen. Automation and workflows were my BFFs. I juggled sales, marketing, customer success, and revenue operations—then helped other startups do the same. It was a great six-year run.Then I got laid off. I was burnt out, super pregnant, and rejected by 40 companies in a competitive market.Meanwhile, my husband had opened a vinyl record shop and wanted my help. I had always played it safe with a steady paycheck, but this felt like the right time to take the leap.Now, I help run Nivessa handling accounting (full circle!), operations, e-commerce, and marketing. We opened a second store in Hollywood while welcoming our third child (literally-was in labor while paying contractors).This unconventional career path is exciting/hectic/fulfilling/insane/rewarding all at once.
