About Sarah Mercier
I have the privilege of working with the incredibly talented team at Build Capable. Most of my focus goes to supporting our customers with their instructional strategy and learning technology. I have worked for global organizations, nonprofits, government agencies, and small companies. I’ve started, acquired, and grown businesses. I led my team to invent a patent-pending and award-winning tool, Build Capable XCL, that enables you to launch and track learning experiences without an LMS. No matter what I’m doing, I’m happiest working on a competent team with shared values, a lot of trust and respect, and a sense of snarky humor. When I speak at conferences and business events, I like to share things I learn in my work, often on topics such as learning ecosystems and data strategy. I care very deeply about inclusion and accessibility, so I do my best to share the stories that frame how I think about people and learning.I write when there’s something I *really* want to share. In February 2025, I launched a book that very much needed to exist – Design for All Learners: Create Accessible and Inclusive Learning Experiences. I’m honored to be the editor and one of 26 contributors.Ultimately, I work so that I can explore the real world. Most of my free time goes to looking for marine life (sea otters are my favorite animal) and searching for cool rocks I can put in my tumbler. I love to paint and draw, listen to music (especially live music), camp and hike, practice yoga, read, scrapbook, and whatever other hobby happens to catch my interest.
