I am currently in the Air Force Reserves as the Commissioned Officer in Charge of the clinical laboratory staff. I supervise and mentor four laboratory technicians. I perform Quality Assurance/Quality Control on tests ordered and collected, as well as troubleshoot instrumentation and supply issues. In addition, I provide oversight for the squadron Medical Readiness and Education and Training Programs, ensuring all medical staff receive and meet the appropriate medical readiness training requirements and professional military education (PME) curriculum milestones necessary to remain proficient in their respective career fields- Supervises, organizes, evaluates and schedules clinical laboratory staff- Oversees proper testing and specimen handling; ensures test and reporting accuracy- Applies internal quality controls to laboratory procedures, interprets results, and implements corrective action- Advises Medical Director on status of equipment, supplies, personnel and operating efficiency of Lab- Responsible for section safety, in-service and upgrade training for nine assigned clinical laboratory technicians- Proficient in all aspects of the clinical laboratory: phlebotomy, blood bank, microbiology, chemistry, hematology/coagulation, immunology, urinalysis
