About Sarah Spicer
An award-winning investigative journalist and native Kansan, Sarah Spicer is the only reporter covering climate change in her home state. Spicer works for The Wichita Eagle and Report for America where she regularly demonstrates her narrative writing skills as she uses characters to explain new environmental concepts and trends to readers who don’t receive much local coverage of these topics. Spicer studied investigative techniques and narrative writing at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism while working as a student assistant for Columbia Journalism Investigations in partnership with ProPublica, where she investigated dating apps and sexual assault. She was Editor-in-Chief of her college paper, The Bulletin, at Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas, where she wrote a groundbreaking investigative series about the university’s handling of Title IX cases. She’s a member of the Society of Environmental Journalists and Investigative Reporters and Editors.
