About Sarah Small

I sit at the intersection of clinical science, digital health, and patient impact. With a background in clinical psychology and health informatics, I\'ve spent my career translating evidence into action — leading Medical & Scientific Affairs for a prescription digital therapeutic (DTx) with being the FDA correspondent, building patient centricity and decentralized trial functions at Moderna and Biogen, and generating real-world evidence that changes how clinicians and payers see digital medicine.I\'ve pioneered digital biomarker programs (Biogen/Parkinson\'s QMA), led Otsuka Precision Health in establishing the regulatory framework for Rejoyn\'s expanded indication pipeline, and been selected twice as a mentor by the NIH NIA Start-Up Innovation Challenge. I\'m passionate about closing the gap between clinical innovation and the patients who need it most.Currently pursuing a Doctorate in Medical Science with a concentration in Health Informatics at Northeastern University.

Experience

  1. Member of the Peer Review Board

    Journal Of Patient Experience

    Feb 2026 — Present

As a member of the Peer Review Board for the Journal of Patient Experience (JPX), I leverage my expertise as the Head of Medical Innovation & Evidence to evaluate scholarship that bridges the gap between patient-centered theory and measurable clinical impact. My focus is on vetting research that is specific, arguable, and supported by scientific evidence—ensuring that \"patient experience\" is elevated from an abstract sentiment into a rigorous, data-driven medical discipline. By applying a lens of implementation science and health experience (HX), I help curate the evidence-backed insights necessary to operationalize individualized solutions across the healthcare ecosystem.
