About Sarah Schumacher

In my two decades in PreK-12, I have developed a strong vision of the educational landscape I am working towards. Influenced by the idea of cathedral thinking, I\'m imagining what education will look like in 200 years and what shifts are needed along the way to get there. Meaningful inclusion of technology is a given, but more importantly what skills and habits of mind do we want to be teaching our children and grandchildren so that they and their descendants can have a healthy, happy future?I\'m hoping to continue to lead innovation in the world of education, particularly in the areas increasing access for students from historically marginalized populations. I have over twenty years of progressive leadership experience in PreK-12 public schools. This means I have deep expertise in the following areas- Equity-focused leadership and change management - I believe that education is the engine of justice and liberation, and I keep it at the center of all I do. I am a systems thinker and leverage that skill to drive change in a way that maximizes impact for all stakeholders- User-centered program and project management - I keep the beneficiaries of the work at the center of all that I do, from planning, to implementation, to evaluation- Relationship-building and collaboration with diverse stakeholders - I emphasize bringing multiple perspectives to the table and learning from others in order to lead for the highest level of innovation and improvement. Authentic engagement is key- Data-based decision-making and continuous monitoring - I use quantitative and qualitative data to build programming and set goals, as well as to track progress along the way and make changes as needed- Stewardship of valuable resources - I thoughtfully leverage time, talent, and financial resources to ensure that we are maximizing the impact of each- Thought partnership - I stay abreast of current research and trends in order to support my partnerships, and I appreciate opportunities to help others grow their work through conversations, coaching, and sharing resources. I am passionate about finding solutions to big problems and supporting the success of the folks doing good work in areas that are most important to me: equity and education.
