ABOUT SARAH SAXBE

As Project Manager for Teen Health Education within the School-Based Health Program at Nationwide Children\'s Hospital, I lead Nationwide Children\'s Hospital\'s efforts to reduce Teen STIs, unintended pregnancy, and infant mortality through projects that provide inclusive, evidence-based and comprehensive sexual health education to students in Central Ohio. In partnership with CelebrateOne and the City of Columbus, the Teen Health Education Partnership Initiative aims to extend the message of lifelong health and wellness for the children by speaking with students about such topics as healthy relationships, reproductive anatomy, reproduction, puberty, and all topics surrounding sexual health, including STI/pregnancy prevention/risk reduction, condoms, and birth control. We connect teens and parents with resources, including our own clinics, to obtain safe and effective birth control. My team created a teen sexual health website fully interactive parent learning modules, and created multiple online resources for students to learn sexual health during the pandemic. Additionally, I provide content expertise, training, and professional development on teen sexual health and other related topics. I have spoken at many local, state and national conferences focusing on sexual health education, parent engagement, and engaging with school staff and students to increase usage of school-based reproductive health services. My and my team\'s work has contributed to reduction of teen STIs, unintended pregnancies, and infant mortality in our community and has received national attention. Prior to this position, I was a Program Coordinator at the NCH Teen and Pregnant Clinic, worked in the NCH Emergency Department as a clinical Social Worker, and have also worked in the HIV clinic at NCH. I recently accepted a part-time position at Nora Mental Health as a therapist. I help individuals, couples and families though life\'s challenges through a holistic, solution-focused approach that gives clients tools to manage stressful life events. Much of my experience has been working with children and families in crisis, and I have a passion for helping teens with anxiety and depression. I received my bachelor\'s degree in Psychology from Miami University and hold masters degrees in Human Development and Family Science and Social Work from The Ohio State University. I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker-Supervisor. I believe in science-based approaches and structured treatment plans with accountability. Please contact me for more information.
