ABOUT SARAH LONG

Nice to meet you! I’m a cardiovascular invasive radiology specialist at the Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute at Morristown Medical Center, as well as an angioplasty specialist at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. I have a comprehensive background in interventional cardiology and diagnostic radiology ranging from ambulatory to ICU patients, and extensive experience with shock patients of all ages from pediatrics to geriatrics.I’m formally trained in interventional and structural/congenital heart as well as complex peripheral vascular intervention, and am certified in both AngioSeal and Perclose closure device deployment for femoral access sites up to 8F. I trained and practiced as part of Duke University Hospital’s pioneer CTO revascularization specialist team before bringing my CTO/complex angioplasty capabilities to Morristown’s Cardiovascular Rescue and Recovery program, where I was given the honor of joining the CVRR directors at the table for our first-ever live-streamed CTO/CHIP PCI course series and the full spectrum of rescue and recovery interventions and mechanical circulatory support devices.I’m part of Morristown’s TAVR (and broader structural) team, the highest-volume program in the country, and can implant all three major aortic valves in both initial replacement and valve-in-valve circumstances via transfemoral, right or left transaxillary (PTAX), and transseptal approach. I’m trained in aortic and mitral electrosurgical leaflet modification techniques including BASILICA, LAMPOON, and the first-of-their-kind ShortCut, BATMAN and UNICORN and can perform paravalvular leak repairs as well.I’m proficient in sterile technique and ARRT-standard radiation safety practices in both routine and acute situations with and without the Rampart IC shielding system, and am certified in ACLS, BLS, and CLEAR (cath lab emergency advanced resuscitation) protocols. I’m a department resource for both CathWorks FFR Angio and Abiomed Impella CP/RP devices, and am a clinical specialist preceptor as well.I welcome any and all opportunities to learn new techniques and innovative approaches to complex cases and am excited to be a part of advances in interventional and structural cardiology.
