About Sarah Larsen

I currently serve as a Transportation Planner for MetroPlan Orlando. My focus is on multimodal systems that also integrate health and community planning. It is my goal to help create a transportation system that is more equitable, more environmentally-friendly, and more efficient. Though I am research-oriented, I also have strong people skills. During my three years teaching English as a Second Language, I realized how important it was to keep a captive audience! I know when to keep things light and fun but I also know when it\'s time to get down to business. I try to keep a global perspective in everything I do. I have lived in the U.S, Switzerland, China, and Taiwan so I am always thinking about how current events are felt around the world. My master\'s education at Columbia University built upon this foundation. I hope to have a deeper understanding with the help of language study! Plus précisément, je suis une étudiante de la langue française.My work and research interests lie in active transportation and public transit, urban development, community health and aging in place, globalization, economic development, media literacy, soft power, feminism, and inequality, but I never limit myself to new ideas.
