I write in-depth and investigative stories about energy, biodiversity, climate, and other environmental issues. My award-winning investigative work on the Site C dam drew widespread attention to provincial government secrecy and a cover-up. My stories have been picked up by CBC, The Globe and Mail, The Tyee, Reader’s Digest, The Big Story & other podcasts, Beside Magazine, and other publications.Winner, 2022, Canadian Association of Journalists Award for Environmental & Climate Change ReportingWinner, 2021, Canadian Journalism Foundation\'s Jackman Award for Excellence in JournalismWinner, 2021, World Press Freedom AwardCo-Winner, 2021, Gold Digital Publishing Award

ABOUT SARAH KATHARINE COX

I’m the author of two non-fiction books and a reporter and editor for The Narwhal.(I\'m on leave from The Narwhal until the end of November 2025.) I got my start in journalism working for The Ubyssey, UBC’s student newspaper. After five years at major Canadian daily newspapers, I returned to university to study comparative politics and economic development policy and began writing for magazines about politics, the environment, and corporate responsibility. My interest in the environment led me to the non-profit sector, where I worked in management, program delivery, and communications before happily diving back into journalism in 2016. I\'m a member of the Canadian Association of Journalists, the Society of Environmental Journalists, and the Writers\' Union of Canada.
