I lost my husband when our daughter was six months old. Being a former Kindergarten teacher, I searched and searched for a book that was interactive and would one day help my daughter learn and remember her Daddy. After searching and searching, I found nothing on the market that quite met what I was looking for. So I decided to write it myself. It\'s a children\'s grief series that was written for young children dealing with the loss of a parent and something I wrote to help my daughter one day as well as others in her shoes. The books,\"My Mommy\'s/Daddy\'s in Heaven and I\'m still here are special memory books. Throughout a series of stories and questions in the book, children can place photos or draw pictures in the book to remember special memories. The books,\"My friends Mommy/Daddy passed away and I don\'t know what to say\" is good to help the friends of the child who has lost their parent understand certain behaviors and emotions they are going through. The books also state in very simple terms how to be a good friend to a peer at school during a time of grief to make them feel more comfortable in talking to them. I believe with reading this book to classroom peers of a child that has lost a parent, they will be able to understand certain behaviors the child is exhibiting and learn what the child really needs from them to be a good friend to them during their time of grief. If children are taught at a young age how to interact with a friend after they have suffered a loss, I believe they will be more equipped as they grow older into adulthood how to communicate with someone during a time of grief.
