Built and led the EMEA public affairs function to facilitate the growth of the European operations from C$45bn/6 investment programmes to C$120bn/20 investment programmes and an office of c.250 people;• Represented the organisation in front of the most senior echelons of government across multiple jurisdictions;• Recruited, directed and developed motivated teams of political advisory firms across EMEA adapting to different cultures and backgrounds;• Provided value-add counsel to the investment teams (infrastructure, real estate, sustainable energies, private equity, credit, etc.) in assessing political and regulatory risks on over 50 transactions across multiple geographies and sectors and on overall asset management;o Examples include: regulatory clearance for Viasat’s acquisition of Inmarsat; assessing energy policy volatility prior to the acquisition of Octopus Energy; political/regulatory/reputational issues impacting the UK water sector (Anglian Water Group); political intervention in regulated utilities (Nedgia, Spain); leading a review on the impact of a far left Labour government on our UK portfolio (nationalisation risk).• Led on specific advocacy initiatives at both a corporate and asset level across the EMEA region including as part of a coalition, direct advocacy or in partnership with industry associations, working closely with Legal, Tax, Compliance and investment teams;• Corporate lead for \"Brexit\"(intelligence gathering, engagement, risk mitigation and opportunities) and post-Brexit transition. Led a review alongside one of the leading professional services firms on the risks of a no-deal Brexit on our UK portfolio and UK operations, presented the findings to the leadership team and supported on implementation. Successfully positioned the Fund through multiple government changes across EMEA markets; and. Advised on geopolitical risks such as Russia/Ukraine and Middle East conflict.
