About Sarah Haymaker
Dedicated public servant uniquely situated to help Kansas small businesses and rural small business or agriculture focused business based on both personal and professional experiences. I grew up in North Central Oklahoma, raised in a family with more than 100 years of small business ownership legacy. Our family businesses have included oil and gas exploration, auto repair, printing, retail hardware, beauty shops, meat processing & cottage industry, agriculture, and printing & graphic design. I come from a long line of entrepreneurs!Formal education includes both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Oklahoma State University in Plant and Soil Science (aka agronomy) as well as an Excellence in Public Leadership certificate from George Washington University. Career highlights include my current position as the Deputy District Director for the Wichita District Office of the SBA covering the western 2/3s of Kansas - for which I received and SBA Administrator’s Award in 2021, Deputy Director of Public Affairs for USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, Special Assistant to the Chief of USDA-NRCS, Chief of Staff for the Senior White House Policy Advisor to the Secretary of Agriculture, National Program Manager for the Conservation Stewardship Program, term-appointed State Director (State Conservationist) Louisiana USDA-NRCS, and many other formal and informal positions on the way and in between that have provided me a well-rounded experience with leadership in public service.
