Ensure compliance with federal and state mandates to provide a full continuum of services for Special Education students; interpret state and federal rules and regulations to provide training to keep district staff aware of current guidelines and certified. Develop and implement a special education budget, create and manage federal grants (IDEA Flow-Through, IDEA preschool, and various other revenue sources (ISBE, Medicaid, Fee-for-Service, Private Placement Tuition, Personnel Reimbursement; reports to ISBE; monitor FACTS forms to ensure accurate and timely completion for maximum levels of ISBE annual reporting and reimbursement.Participate in and conduct IEP/Special Education/Problem Solving meetings to ensure that each student is provided and receives an appropriate Individualized Education Plan which best meets the identified student needs.Provide appropriate special education services to students by assuring the evaluative and diagnostic services and placements meet the identified student needs.Support maximum integration of special education students into general education by working in tandem with general education programs. Analyze student achievement data to develop instruction and assessment systems that will enhance student learning. Uphold continuous improvement strategies to provide systems of support to principals and other school level staff. Align special education programs to meet district improvement goals and expectations. Conduct, in cooperation with building administrators, staff, parents, and community, ongoing evaluation of programs, services, and coordinate the long-term planning process to meet the needs of students.
