We are working on creating a portable and user-friendly device designed to detect specific miRNAs associated with cervical precancer. This innovative screening system leverages two cutting-edge technologies: toehold switch technology and RNA synthetic devices. Toehold switches act as molecular recognition elements, ensuring precise and highly sensitive detection of target miRNAs with exceptional accuracy. By integrating these switches with RNA synthetic devices, we can generate a visual color response when the target miRNAs are identified in the patient\'s urine. This approach simplifies the screening process, removing the necessity for intricate equipment. Our device stands out for its affordability, ease of use, and versatility. Through meticulous design and optimization, our goal is to create a cost-effective tool that demands minimal training to operate. This characteristic will enable its deployment in resource-constrained settings and circumstances where access to conventional screening instruments is limited- Managed lab operations - Led lab protocol development and toehold switch design- Presented project at the University of Virginia Mid-Atlantic Meetup
