   A primary duty of mine is to determine the space needs for varying internal projects and prepare a plan and/or method to fulfill those needs. The projects vary greatly in size and complexity, and I work with all Illumina departments. Project examples range from adding/modifying furniture or lab furniture to a space, to converting and renovating existing spaces, to planning new facilities. Projects can require conducting interviews, questionnaires, feasibility studies, inspections of existing conditions and working with outside consultants, etc. to accomplish best solutions. Preliminary funding, budgets and schedules are required for projects and a regular task of mine. I also work alongside internal departments like procurement, engineering, security, IT, EHS, etc which is critical in our projects success. I also work on strategic space planning to accommodate growth and future projects. This includes working on and updating the future department locations on floor plans, called Plan of Record (POR) documents, and working closely with the Real Estate and Planning Team for future growth alignment. I manage block plans for all of Illuminas North America sites outside of San Diego which includes, San Francisco, Madison, Baltimore and Brazil. Both POR and block planning rely on forecasted data, so working in alignment with the Real Estate team is critical.I\'ve also managed the planning component of vacating campuses, buildings and floors and consolidating our departments. Working with our site services team is critical for these projects as well as closely working with the end users and space representatives.Whatever the project, the goal is to work with the end users to determine and achieve their optimal work environment.
