ABOUT SARAH DOHERTY

With over 18 years of teaching experience, I am an accomplished educator passionate about developing others and creating meaningful, real-world learning experiences. My academic background includes an MA in Education, an MSc in European Environmental Management, a BSc in Geography, and a PGCE, providing a robust foundation for my work in teaching and leadership.For my MA I completed research into the work of Carol Dweck how to foster growth mindset within a school / classroom environment. I have also had the opportunity to create and explore authentic learning practices. As part of this I have visited schools in other countries for example High Tech High in San Diego and other schools in Finland, Demark and South Africa. I am currently an Associate SLT \'Leadership Coach\' at Matthew Moss High School, where I specialise in coaching and mentoring new staff, lead mentor for ECTs and trainees. I have previous experience of leadership development, curriculum development, staff development and CPD delivery, Pupil Premium strategy. My teaching expertise spans Geography, History, RS, Citizenship, and PSHCE across KS3 and KS4. Beyond the classroom, I have completed the TA 101 course and Educational Transactional Analysis training, which I incorporate into my coaching and mentoring practices. I also hold the role of Chair of Governors at a local primary school, where I contribute to strategic leadership and governance.Currently part of the NPQSL 2024/2025 cohort, I am committed to continuous professional growth and leadership development, with a strong focus on fostering authentic learning, coaching, and collaborative educational environments.
