ABOUT SARAH BUCKHEIT

Sarah Buckheit works with her clients one-on-one to help them achieve the highest possible level of fitness. She has been working in the fitness industry since 1984, beginning her career in fitness sales, management and sales consulting in the New York metropolitan area. In 1991, Sarah was certified by the American Council on Exercise as a Personal Trainer. Prior to 1991, she was certified by I.D.E.A.(International Dance Exercise Association), since the A.C.E. Personal Trainer Certification was still in the process of being developed. In addition to working with clients on their muscular strength and cardiovascular endurance, Sarah specializes in stretching, biomechanics and prevention of injuries. She has completed coursework in MAT (Muscle Activation Technique), Functional Anatomy, Older Adult Fitness as well as a variety of stretching techniques. As a personal trainer, Sarah uses her expertise to evaluate each client individually. Her goals are to not just treat symptoms but determine the root cause and design a rehabilitation strategy to avoid repeat or related injuries. She motivates and challenges clients while safely guiding them to peak performance. As an avid runner and athlete herself, Sarah has won over 40 local road races during her racing career. She is frequently an age group winner in the Washington DC area. In 2002, she was awarded the USATF LDR Master Female Runner of the Year for the Potomac Valley Region. The same year, she was chosen as Master Runner of the Year for the Montgomery County Road Runners Club. She has challenged herself in race distances from the mile to the half marathon and finished 11th overall in the Empire State Building Run-Up!
