   Edit hundreds of research reports and dozens of books on various public policy areas—including economics, health care, foreign policy, defense spending, K–12 and higher education, workforce development, constitutional studies, and domestic policy—focusing on clarity, readability, use of jargon, sentence structure, organization, grammar, accuracy, consistency, and adherence to AEI style• Shepherd reports and books through the publication process, schedule publication dates to maximize publicity, typeset policy briefs, proofread formatted reports, and post reports to the AEI website using WordPress• Manage seven employees, with responsibility for all hiring and termination decisions, employee training and onboarding, and employee evaluations• Coordinate department workflow, priorities, and bandwidth, ensuring quality standards, dividing workload and responsibilities among editors, and regularly assessing and updating procedures• Rewrote and implemented a new AEI Style Guide, simplifying the style to eliminate confusion, expanding the examples and adjusting formatting to make it more usable for non-editors, and establishing the new style guide’s use across the institute• Edit donor materials and other high-level marketing and corporate materials, such as the AEI Annual Report and materials for the quarterly AEI Board of Trustees meeting, considering institutional priorities• Edit various marketing materials: email newsletters, event materials, transcripts, blog posts, press releases, infographics, and web copy• Manage the Editing Services budget, recommend salary adjustments and bonuses, submit monthly expense reports, and process invoices from outside vendors• Wrote department procedures for editors and training guides for authors and other AEI personnel• Coordinate promotion plans and bulk book orders across the institute for books written by AEI scholars• Train new AEI employees on editorial and writing best practices, procedures, and the AEI Style Guide
