ABOUT SARAH BARNETT
I have a first class degree in Demography, and a PhD in Public Health. I have over 20 years experience working in low- and middle-income countries across Africa and Asia (including Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Eswatini, India, Laos, Nepal, Malawi, Kenya, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Tanzania). I am a public health specialist with expertise in sexual, reproductive, maternal and newborn health; public health; mental health; health systems strengthening; quality of care; as well as monitoring, evaluation and research. I spent five years overseeing four randomised controlled trials of community mobilisation interventions. I was Principal Investigator on a trial awarded Global Trial of the year by the Society for Clinical Trials. I subsequently spent 10 years working for a consultancy firm, largely providing technical support to the implementation of large-scale, long-term health programmes. I have expertise in programme monitoring and evaluation, third party monitoring, and stand alone research projects, with extensive experience in undertaking both quantitative and qualitative primary research and analysis. I have published extensively, including many peer reviewed journals and have experience working closely with many governments, and with a broad range of donors.
