ABOUT SARA MACPHERSON

I have worked in the Sports Industry for 15 years, 10 years of which have specialised in the management of sports development initiatives, projects and events.I am currently a lecturer of Sport Management and Sport Development at Cardiff Metropolitan University, specialising in marketing, professional work-based learning and events management.Previous roles have included; Sport Development Manager at Cardiff Met; managing the largest Junior Sports Development programme in the UK employing 100 coaches and 50 volunteers delivering coaching sessions to children per week.Active Young People Officer for Bridgend County Borough Council; working on numerous Sport Wales initiatives including managing the 5 x 60 and Dragon Sport programmes as well as working on Welsh Assembly projects including Community Focused Schools (CFS). I was also a member of the Bridgend County Sport Wales Community Chest panel for 3 years.I am a fluent Welsh speaker and spent 18 months working as a Welsh Language Sports Development Officer creating and managing Welsh language sports accreditation opportunities for young people across Bridgend County. These included running numerous Sports Leaders Young Leaders, Level 1 and Level 2 courses as well as facilitating Open College Network courses and qualifications.I am a current First Campus tutor and regularly deliver Sports Leaders courses in some of the most under-privileged Secondary Schools in Cardiff.I am also a current member of the BUCS Wales Advisory Group and of the national BUCS Workforce and Coaching Advisory Group (WACAD). WACAD lead on devising content for the BUCS Coaching & Workforce development days, provide feedback for National partners on HE specific workshop projects and gathering intel on regional and national agendas for BUCS to address.
