ABOUT SARA MACEDO
I\'m a double major in Environmental and Urban Studies and History, with a concentration in Latin American History. My work centers on environmental justice, historical memory, and grassroots resistance in Latin America. My senior thesis explores the media and political influence of the United Fruit Company during Guatemala’s agrarian reform, highlighting how corporate power was shaped by their agriculture methods, and thus comes my great passion of agriculture. I’m deeply committed to advocating for both the planet and the people most impacted by environmental harm, especially those whose voices are often excluded. I believe every movement toward a net-zero future matters, and I’m passionate about aligning climate solutions with justice, equity, and historical accountability. I have experience in GIS, R, and legal/policy research, as well as Spanish language proficiency. I hope to integrate my background in environmental studies, history, and law to advance intersectional, community-driven change.
