Determine what resources are needed throughout the network to support newcomers; what resources are needed to support community engagement efforts; support relationship-building activities with government and private partners in these locations. • Identify national and regional public and private sector partners with whom CWS and/or local offices might establish relationships with to provide support to all refugees welcomed by CWS • Develop proposals for in-kind or pro-bono support opportunities and oversees the implementation of and reporting on awards. • Track and monitor implementation of in-kind and cash donations and ensures judicious and effective use of donated resources. • Ensure timely and accurate reporting to donors in accordance with grant requirements. • Develop public relations materials, including online videos, newsletters, resources, PowerPoints, and brochures, to educate the public on welcoming newcomers and community sponsorship.

ABOUT SARA HAAS

Sara Haas is an advocate for New Americans and women. She was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio and relocated to West Palm Beach in 2019. She completed her undergraduate degree in Political Science (with a focus on the Islamic world) at Northern Kentucky University and her graduate degree in Political Science (with a focus on democratization) at Miami University (of Ohio!). She began her nonprofit career in direct service at GCBHS as a refugee and asylee employment specialist assisting newcomers with case management and employment services. During this time she taught job readiness, citizenship, and vocational ESOL classes. She also taught adjunct at her alma mater NKU, teaching American Politics 100 courses. After moving to Florida, Sara began working at Catholic Charities of Palm Beach as the Volunteer Services and Outreach Coordinator, where she managed volunteers and hosted outreach and fundraising events for the whole organization. It is there she sharpened up her skills in development, communications, marketing, and volunteer management. She now works for Church World Service as their Senior Manager for National Community Engagement, working to create more welcoming communities across the US for refugees and immigrants. She is also active in The League of Women Voters’ Palm Beach Young Leaguers committee (as Communications chair) and New Leaders Council Palm Beach (as Communications co-chair). In her free time you can find her at the beach, traveling, or at home with her two rescue dogs.
