Life lessons and observations are shared weekly. With a belief that you can learn and grow from the follies and experiences of others, Sara shares her daily struggles and challenges. Life LessonsIt seems as though we don’t talk like we used to. Families used to share meaningful conversations at the dinner table and grandparents would share their wisdom. Maybe I missed these key moments because we moved almost every two years, or because our dinner table conversation was non-existent. I wanted better for my daughter. Our dinners became lively conversations, we asked deep questions, and we shared what we learned. Watching her become an adult, I can see the wisdom she has gained from my follies and experiences. ObservationsPeople are less observant than ever. We seem to forget that everyone around us can hear our conversations. We think that just because we are talking on our cell phones no one notices. Or worse, we are so accustomed to saying mean, hurtful things through social media, that we leave our empathy at home. I spend countless hours watching people. Amazed at the lack of humanity I see. Maybe, just maybe my observations will entice a few people to remember the value of empathy and being human. Emotional IntelligenceAdvancements in the workplace are no longer based on our hard skills, the skills we mastered in college. Rather, we are judged by our soft skills. Rarely are we taught soft skills or shown ways to grow our emotional intelligence. I have been on a journey to learn to be more empathetic, to stop judging others, and to increase my emotional intelligence. It is my hope that by sharing my journey, you will learn how to increase your emotional intelligence, and exceed any growth I make. I hope my blogs serve as entertainment, inspiration, and a means to learn and grow. Life is a journey, we learn more on the way to our final destination than we do by reaching our destination.
