Coordinator and Elliot Professor in Healthcare Design

I serve as an associate professor and a coordinator in the Healthcare Design program. My responsibilities include administrative duties, research, and teaching. • As a coordinator, I have developed a comprehensive curriculum to train future healthcare design experts and leaders. I enjoy creating opportunities for students to thrive, to develop tangible outcomes, and to expand their external professional network. I strive to establish and maintain a sense of community within the program where students learn to support one another.• As an educator, I have taught core courses (Patient Populations and Systems Thinking), a studio, and research methods. My approach to teaching is to apply innovative learning methods and offer students applied skillsets that will prepare them for real life practice.• As a research, I lead a $2.4-m grant project on trauma room design with a cross-disciplinary team at Kent State University and Cleveland Clinic. My other research activities include research in healthcare design practice and brain health. I am also a co-lead for the Kent State’s team in the AIA-ACSA Design and Health Research Consortium.• As a member of the KSU community and the healthcare design profession, I contribute as a committee member on multiple committees and serve as journal manuscript and grant reviewer.
