ABOUT SAPTARSHI MITRA
Currently based in Kolkata, India - I am motivated by the desire to be able be part of processes to shapes future cities in more equitable ways. I have a background in in Architecture (CEPT Ahmedabad) and Urban Planning (UCL London) and have lived, studied and worked in India, Spain, United Kingdom and Myanmar. Since 2013, I have been engaged in a variety of interdisciplinary projects that lie at the intersections of space, culture and society – dealing with individuals, private/public sectors and the community. Currently I am part of an interdisciplinary design practice called The Appropriate Alternative and lead an NGO called the Sustained Actions for Value and Environment. I am specifically skilled in strategic design, critical thinking and employing participatory methodologies to facilitate collaborative work. Additionally, I am strongly technically skilled in communication, visualisation, research and analysis.
