Sapphire GarciaReproductive Justice Advocate | Founder & Executive Director, Kansas Birth Justice SocietyI am a strategist, organizer, and advocate committed to reproductive justice, community-centered birth, and racial equity. Since 2013, I have worked to dismantle systemic barriers in maternal health, expand access to quality reproductive care, and uplift Black, Indigenous, and Latinx families through policy change and direct community support.As the Founder & Executive Director of Kansas Birth Justice Society, I lead initiatives that develop a diverse, community-rooted birth workforce, provide culturally responsive care, and challenge inequities in perinatal health. My work bridges grassroots organizing, coalition-building, and advocacy to ensure that historically excluded communities have the power, resources, and support they need to thrive.In the summer of 2022, I fought to protect abortion rights in Kansas, helping to defeat a ballot initiative that would have stripped patients of their constitutional rights. I have also led and supported efforts to improve maternal and infant health policies, train the next generation of birth workers, and push for systemic reforms that prioritize racial and reproductive justice.Let’s connect to advance health equity, policy change, and justice-centered care.
