About Sapna Krishnakumar
I am a PhD student at Princeton University, USA in the Department of Molecular Biology. I have been awarded the Centennial Fellowship in the Natural Sciences and Engineering, the highest honor that can be bestowed on an incoming graduate student based on academic excellence and research promise. Prior to Princeton, I earned my BS-MS degree (Biology major, Data Science minor) from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Mohali where I was awarded the Professor S.N. Kaul medal for the Best All Round Performance in the Class of 2025. My time at IISER Mohali was funded by the DST-INSPIRE Scholarship from the Government of India. I am fascinated by organismal development and am particularly interested in studying how patterns of different kinds shape development. I have 4+ years of research experience with strong technical and soft skills and am experienced in multiple model systems (Drosophila, zebrafish, Xenopus and cell culture), molecular biology methods, microscopy and data analysis. Outside of the lab, I\'m a passionate Bharatanatyam dancer, Carnatic vocalist, Science Communication enthusiast and Tennis player.
