This system is responsible for producing both end of the day and real time risk Greeks and Pnl numbers. The end of the day process also generates various market risk and trading risk reports which are sent to middle office systems which are then used for calculating other risk numbers for regulatory reporting. Real time risk enables the traders to hedge their positions effectively.
