Leadership & Strategic Oversight- Lead the department catering to the social-emotional needs of secondary-grade learners, ensuring a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment- Develop and implement wellness practices and proactive support systems to foster a culture where students feel empowered to explore their authentic selves.• Student Counselling & Wellbeing- Provide trauma-informed, person-centered, and queer-affirmative counselling approaches tailored to diverse student needs- Utilize eclectic therapeutic tools to make counselling sessions engaging and impactful for both students and adults- Partner closely with students to help them reshape personal narratives, breaking free from counterproductive belief cycles.• Advocacy & Systemic Improvements- Advocate for systemic enhancements within the institution, ensuring policies and practices inherently support mental health and wellness- Strengthen communication channels between staff, students, and families to promote holistic wellbeing- Encourage the adoption of Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) practices to create an environment where student well-being flourishes.• Collaboration & Community Engagement- Work closely with educators, counselors, and external mental health professionals to ensure collective, compassionate student care- Foster connections within the broader mental health field, integrating diverse perspectives into school practices- Inspire stakeholders to recognize the transformative potential of community-based mental health support.
