ABOUT SANKALP SHARMA

Hi! Let’s try this a little differently. My earliest dream? To play cricket for India. I got as far as the state level before letting go. Biggest learning: Don’t throw your wicket away. Persevere. Studied management in Mumbai. Biggest learning: Don’t emulate just to fit in. Dare to be unapologetically original. Also, Mumbai is quite awesome. Founded The Abstract Room and found my next big passion at the intersection of art, conversations, and entrepreneurship. Biggest learnings: Stopped stammering, got comfortable in my own skin. Learned everything from WordPress, Figma and Filmora to event planning, content strategy, community management and moderating events. I’m sure I’m forgetting 20 other things. Also, got viral, made impact but failed a lot as well. The lovely people at Bound India trusted me as their Assistant Creative Producer of their podcasting segment Biggest learnings: Break tasks down to granular details. Attention to detail will become your superpower. Also, learnt the extensive process of producing podcasts. Failed screenwriting gig with an acclaimed filmmaker Biggest learnings: Realized I love writing stories - but I haven’t seen enough life to be able to see the world through someone else’s eyes. Satiated by urge to learn every subject under the sun by getting selected for the prestigious Young India Fellowship Biggest learnings: It’s completely fine to not be deeply curious about every academic subject. Listen actively, think deeply, articulate clearly, and respond curiously. If something needs to be done, it needs to get done. Was fortunate to start working as a brand consultant at Ashoka University, and heading their podcasts and YouTube Biggest learnings: How big organizations work and what truly encompasses branding, communications and public relations. My current quest- Understanding how to create impact through entrepreneurship- the art and science of branding- and how to make sense of a life that offers so much.(Also: making my first documentary on my lost lineage, getting in the best shape of my life, and acing design, camera work, editing, and every other tempting skill I yearn to master.)
