I am passionate about using Advanced Process Control (APC) and Analytics to improve the profitability of any manufacturing facility. These are very powerful tools, when applied properly, that can dramatically improve the profitability of a manufacturing facility.I have applied APC, Analytics and Real-time Optimization in diverse manufacturing facilities:• Upstream – offshore production platforms• Midstream – cryogenic gas plants, fractionation plants• Downstream (Refining) – crude units, cat crackers, hydrotreaters, reformers, sulfur plants, blending etc.• Petrochemicals – ethylene plants, butadiene plant, ethanol plant, ethylbenzene plant, styrene plant• Specialty chemical plants• Fertilizer plants• Pulp & paper millsIn most cases the return on investments from these applications have been in excess of 3 times. And in some cases, these have been documented in paper publications, jointly authored by customers. It is so satisfying to see the applications work as designed, helping the operator (the ultimate customer of the application) with his job and the business owner in business outcome.
