ABOUT SANJAY DESHPANDE

Sanjay is a member of Virtusa’s Leadership Team, Executive Vice President, and AMERICAS Business Head for Banking, Telecom, Retail, & Emerging verticals. Throughout his career across 4 continents, he has transformed businesses with his strategic acumen and relentless focus on growth, complexity reduction, and profitable execution. Formulating business strategies, building high-caliber teams, creating new markets & revenue-streams, & leading large P & Ls have been his core impact-contribution-strength areas. He has lived and worked in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia/Asia-Pac and established a strong network of clients, and partners. Sanjay is passionate about problem solving, diversity inclusion, sustainability, and taking up new challenges in his quest towards unlearning and learning something In his current role, Sanjay heads the AMERICAS businesses for Banking, Telecom, Retail, & Emerging verticals. From April 2019 till March 2023, he led Banking & Financial services business for AMERICAS which grew by over 110% under his leadership, making it the most successful business unit across the organization. Prior to his Americas role, he was based out of London, UK, leading Virtusa’s banking business across EMEA, APAC, & Canada. He led business growth of 120% in 3 years that saw multiple large deals & new logo wins, besides opening of many new markets. Before coming on board Virtusa, Sanjay was the Chief Sales Officer at Polaris Software for AMERICAS and a Board member of its Canadian entity. During his decade-long stay, he grew Polaris’ flagship intellect universal banking product business over 50X crafting many of the “first-time-ever” deals while establishing business in many new geographies and building formidable teams. Prior to joining Polaris, Sanjay established a successful start-up in the contact center and communications technology space for one of the leading conglomerates in Dubai, UAE, addressing the entire Middle East, Africa & the Mediterranean region. This start-up catered to the leading regional Financial institutions, Telecom service providers and Utility service providers.
