About Sanika Naik
I am a research assistant at The Johns Hopkins Medical Institute, studying TDP-43 dysfunction and its role in cryptic exon inclusion in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and ALS-FTD. Through histological analyses and genotyping, I investigate the molecular mechanisms driving neurodegeneration, aiming to contribute to a deeper understanding of these complex disorders. Passionate about neuroscience, molecular biology, and biotechnology, I specialize in qPCR, DNA/RNA isolation, bioinformatics, and neurodegenerative disease research. With hands-on experience in Drosophila melanogaster models for Alzheimer’s disease, I have conducted research on circadian rhythms, neurodegeneration, and drug screening.Beyond the lab, I integrate art and science through graphic design and science communication. As a social media volunteer, I create engaging content that simplifies complex scientific ideas.My goal is to contribute to biotech innovations, translational research, and science outreach, bridging the gap between cutting-edge research and public understanding.
