View department →

This NERC Opening Up the Environment (NERCOUTE) project is a pioneering initiative funded by UKRI to address gender disparity in geoscience leadership. The project focuses on identifying barriers to leadership for women and non-binary geoscientists, and piloting an immersive training and development camp to empower the next generation of research leaders. As Project Co-Lead and Advisory Board Member, my role is to: Contribute expertise in academic leadership development and research culture. Help shape the design and delivery of the leadership training and development programme. Advise on inclusivity, accessibility, and long-term impact for early-career researchers. Support evaluation and dissemination to ensure the project’s insights inform sector-wide best practice. This work will not only support a cohort of future women and non-binary leaders in geoscience, but also provide an evidence base to shape inclusive leadership development across the research community.
