ABOUT SANDY LASHIN-CUREWITZ

I am a nonprofit program and communications leader working at the intersection of mental health, mindfulness, and community engagement. As Director of Programs & Special Projects at The HeartWell Institute, I collaborate with visionary leadership to design and expand programs that address trauma, burnout, and survival-mode living—particularly among historically marginalized communities, community activists, educators, mental health providers, and human service professionals. My work focuses on turning powerful ideas into structured, sustainable programs and partnerships. Drawing on my background in marketing, public relations, and nonprofit leadership, I help build the infrastructure that allows mission-driven organizations to grow their impact. This includes developing program strategy, strengthening partnerships, and leading communications efforts such as media relations, email marketing, and storytelling that amplify organizational reach. At the center of my work are four values: courage, creativity, compassion, and connection. Whether designing programs, supporting new leadership, or shaping communications strategy, I aim to create experiences that help individuals and communities move from stress and disconnection toward clarity, resilience, and meaningful engagement.I am also a mindfulness practitioner and graduate of the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program led by Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield (2023–2025). My training also includes Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and Mindful Self-Compassion programs. I have developed my own mindfulness initiative, Feel Better / Oh YES!™, focused on practical tools for everyday well-being.Earlier in my career, I worked in marketing and public relations with nonprofits including United Way of Central Massachusetts, Becker College, and Guardian Angel Senior Services, and as a consultant to organizations such as The No Evil Project and Auburn Youth and Family Services. I am also an experienced writer, with published work in Foodies of New England, Worcester Magazine, and the NADD Bulletin.Across every role, my focus is the same: helping organizations and communities translate vision into meaningful, lasting impact.
