ABOUT SANDRA BUCHAN

Sandy is currently having a great time working with PhDs and MPhils in public policy. These students will change the world and make it a better place for all of us! In addition to sharing her experience and advice with world-class graduate students, she also combined her interest, experience and educational background to join a group of passionate quant professionals to engage in a new educational and research platform in the areas of quantitative finance and big data. Sandy provides in-depth career advising in multiple areas of our economy. Sandy is a career strategist who has over 20 years of experience advising undergraduate and graduate students, as well as professionals in financial engineering, science, public policy, public administration, health care, city planning and general business. Sandy has conceptualized, created, and implemented career centers at the UCLA Anderson School of Management, the USC Marshall School of Business and the USC Price School of Public Policy. She has extensive experience in creating career enhancing workshops and hosting conferences at UCLA and USC in areas such as multimedia and risk management. Her innovation extends to creating a Wall Street Orientation Program, City Managers Internship Program, Business Externship Programs, Asian City Planners Internship and assisted the Clinton Foundation in structuring their fellowship. Her expertise encompasses developing and managing program boards. She has received numerous awards for performance. Previously, Sandy\'s non-academic career was with the Central Intelligence Agency where she debriefed foreign scientists and technologists and contributed to developing a global network of experts who routinely reported on political and scientific activities in the Middle East. Sandy holds an MBA and a MS in industrial psychology. In her spare time, she turned around a struggling distribution firm and consulted for the International Economic Forum. She is the co-chair of the Volcker Alliance G2U Initiative in Southern California. The local lead organization and partner for the G2U is the Southern California Association of Governments. And currently has a short-term contract with the UCLA Econ Department to expand their employer outreach program for the new degree - Master of Quantitative Economics - MQE.
